OEM Battery life C70 1999

How long do original Volvo batterries last before
they start getting marginal?

I've got 3.5 years on my car now and was wondering
how long I can get away with the original battery.

Also, I found in my car care experience that it's
a good thing to give the battery posts and cables
a good cleaning, but if I disconnect each cable
to clean will I lose computer settings anywhere
in my vehicle?

TY

I have an 850 and S70 and both batteries failed at about 48 months.
This seems about average based on reports here on this bulletin board.

Yes, you loose settings for clock and radio and the trip computer.
The radio security code will have to be typed in and pre-sets re-set.

Don't forget to wear safety glasses when working with car batteries!

      Thanks Ray,

I guess next spring I better get a new one. Tires Too!
I guess every 4 years gets expensive.

I archived from Brickboard that the Interstate Megatron MH-46
fits perfectly in my battery holder. Is this a good candidate
      and who carries this battery.

      Thanks,

      RD

Interstate is a good battery. Johnson Controls makes it. They
also sell it under house brand names. See:

        www.johnsoncontrols.com

pick on the battery link and the battery page has brands and store
brands (example: Costco sells johnson controls batteries under their
        house brand).

I think there are two sizes with the larger size having more cold
cranking power (the smaller size is what you get from the factory).
I don't know the actual battery numbers.
