Just a word on RE730s 850

205/50X16s. They seem to work pretty well, even in water, but the word is.. NOISY!

    Loud compared to what? 850

What were you running before the RE730's? The RE730's are supposed to be great performance tires.....but performance tires make noise.

I had the Yokohama A520's and they were LOUD, but the grip was outstanding. Now I have the Khumo 712's and they are smoother and quieter, but the grip and handling just isn't there like the A520's. I am seriously considering the RE730's so please let me know what you are comparing them to.

Sorry, this is the first car I've owned with "performance" tires. I've had it since January and that's what the previous owner put on it.

The only thing I can compare to is the whine you hear when someone is running down the highway with off-road tires on their 4X4. Just not as loud.

It's just something I'm noticing now that I'm becoming more accustomed to the car. The RE730s stick very well and are probably more tire than I need regularly. I do like that I can't seem to make them break loose or even howl no matter what and they are excellent under stand-on-the-pedal braking.

Sound is subjective I suppose. While I would like a little more aural feedback from the exhaust system, I don't expect to hear tire whine. Sort of detracts from the car IMHO.

But then again, I have Dunstall Power Mufflers (megaphones) on my Moto Guzzi LeMans and love the sound.

        FM901 850

Or you can try a brand new tire coming out later, Dunlop FM901, I got that from Volco Vancouver, Canada. It's on my volans now. It's much better than my previous P7000 A/S on my turbo wheels. The grip is a whole lot better but I expect the grip is only so so. It's replacement for W-10. Response and wet performance are far better than P700, close to my original Michelin MXM. Besides, it's very cheap, I got that for $150 CAD a tire (215/45R17) You can go to Japanese Dunlop site and take a look at the spec, it's not on Dunlop America yet. It's very popular in Australia and Japan.

Thanks for the tip. I'll look into it when time comes for a new set of tires. If it were an FM 91.1 or 90.7 I'd have to buy them. They're the FM stations I engineer for here at WKNO TV / FM in Memphis. Public Broadcasting.
