Can anyone suggest a better tire and rim than the 17" Volrans. Potholes are killing my tires and rims. Will be buying new tires this week.

What tires do you have now? Pirelli? Is max performance or greater comfort your main concern?

I have the 17" Volans and have no intention of changing them. After bending one rim I bought a replacement and shipped the bent one to a wheel repair place. It came back good as new. I have yet to bend another rim, but I do look out to avoid potholes.

You should consider moving up to in the 215-45-17 size tires. With the R model and Volans you shouldn't have any problems except maybe some slight rubbing at full turning lock. With softer sidewall tires you will notice a better ride.

As for tires try the Khumo 712's. They ride MUCH smoother and quieter than my previous Michelin Pilots and Yokohama A520's but they don't stick as well. I would also suggest getting the Sumitomo HTRZ-II tires. Another good tire in the 215 size with taller sidewalls and smooth quiet ride.

You can either go with 16" or get 215/45/17. But you might get slight rubbing when u turn full lock to the right or left.
