I would like to thank whoever posted the message about putting the mats in the washer. I figured I had nothing to lose so I washed them, also using Oxyclean and after just the first wash I couldn't believe how much dirt came out and how great they looked!!! It took three washings and they look like new--I haven't seen the white '850' in years!!!!! (between washings you have to wipe out any dirt in the bottom of the washer with a paper towel, and I air dried them outside). What a great and helpful idea!!!! Thanks!

    Hey, that was me who put the post out there. And you are welcome.

    I had spilled a party-size cafe of coffee on my beige mat and it was totally brown, so I didn't have much to lose by trying the washing machine. And the driver side mat was really a mess too. I was so amazed how well they all came out, I just had to share it with everyone.

    So glad you tried it. Nothing like fresh, clean mats in the car and the machine does all the work for you.

      Do you think it was the OxyClean that helped or just that fact that you put it in the washing maching? I've seen the product on the infomercials but haven't tried yet. Is it really that good?

        I think it was a combination of the two, the washer seemed to shake out A LOT of sand and dirt, but I would credit the Oxyclean with the stain removal. I kind of pre-soaked first by using powder and a little water to work into the stain, and then hot water and soap and more Oxyclean in the washer.

        I think the washer is the trick, but I've used Oxiclean for a long time for tons of stuff. I add it to my normal laundry and use it to clean spots on my wall-to-wall carpet, on my lawn furniture cushions - you name it. The stuff works great. It doesn't dissolve vert well, so you need hot water when you use it.

        it's the washing machine. I did this with my mats last year using regular detergent. The oxyclean probably didn't do anything.
