Self clearing Check Engine light 850

My check engine (Lambda sensor) light has been on in my 1996 850 T wagon (72,000 kilometers) for about 2 weeks. The shop diagnosed it as the front oxygen sensor. I replaced it on the weekend with a Bosch Universal sensor, and the difference in performance was huge! I've got an appointment on Thursday to get the light reset, but today I went out to start the car at lunch and the light was off! The only difference was that I had my cell phone charger plugged in the cigarette lighter this morning! Has anyone ever had this happen? Maybe it's short-lived. I'll probably still get it checked Thursday, but I thought these lights can only be resest with a computer.
Thanks in advance.

    Hi.
I have had this happen to my -96 850R at least three times.
Asked the board a few months ago but never got any replys.
    Regards
    Thomas

What was the part number of the sensor you bought and where did you pick it up? I've been quoted as much as $100 differences in sensor prices.

The light will go out on it's own if the system runs a complete trouble free drive cycle. This drive cycle can be duplicated but it's tricky. The fault code will remain in memory for some time, then self clear if the problem does not recur.

      Hi, All
      Hear my story.
When the light came on my car, s
      1. switch on/off the parking signal a few times and it's gone
      2. Give the dash a couple bangs then off it went....

How odd can it be???? A short circuit???
