I have a 1998 S70 and when I was letting someone in the passenger side door with the electric locks they pulled up on the handle and from that time on the door does not unlock with the electric locks. Somewhere along the line the same thing happened to the driver's door locks and now they do not unlock electronically. They do, however, lock electronically. I'm tired of using the key to open the drivers door and getting inside to open the passenger door manually! Can anyone tell me how this happened and if it is hard to fix yourself?

I had the same problems with my 98 S70. I was told that I had to replace the power lock unit in the drivers door. I did it, and it fixed my problem (cost $100 for the unit). Not too hard to do yourself, just takes a little time as you have to take the panel off and get inside the door.

I just had the same symptoms happen with the driver side rear door. I am assuming that these units go bad, but if anyone knows that they only need a "resetting" or something, please let us know!

Will they unlock and lock from inside with the lock switch with the dorrs closed? Could be the master lock switch in the driver's door.

No, neither the drivers door nor the passenger door will unlock with the electric lock switch on the door with the doors closed. Is their a switch inside the door that may have to be flipped?

Make absolutely sure you do not use the remote door release as a passenger is lifting the door handle. This is another of those little quirks with the S70's.
I had 3 doorlock replacements,under warranty thank you, until I realized that simultaneously pushing the elec. door release in combo. with a passanger lifting the door handle damages the door lock solenoid. Once this happens, the door will not unlock with the elec. switch, only manually. You can add this item to a list of poor design/quality parts on the S70's, right along with A/C compressors on the 850's/S70's, 740/760 series fuel pumps etc., etc.
