headlight service bulletin? S40-V40

I thought I read here that there was a service bulletin on the headlight bulb burning out too soon problem. According to my service department there's no such bulletin for the 2000 S40. What's the real scoop? Does it only apply to 2001+ models? I hope not because I've had to replace 4 bulbs in 22.5k miles.

    TSB# 3-37-0008. Dated 10/2000. Auxiliary harness, headlights. It instructs dealer to install a resistor wire harness and replace both bulbs. This is NOT a campaign or recall. However, if your car is still under warranty, they are obligated to perform this repair if headlamp burnout is excessive. If your warranty has expired, it's on you.

      this doesn't apply to the x40 model, but you do need to replace both bulbs. Any paired bulbs should be replaced in pairs.

        I suggest you actually READ the bulletin. It applys to X-40 ONLY. It is NOT a recall or service campaign.

          Bob,
          I'll look into it but I know for a fact that our dealer hasn't installed one in-line resistor to any X40s to date nor have we seen one X40 that repeatedly burns out bulbs after both were replaced at the same time, as now required by Volvo.

    David, see the note on the 9th, this forum! There is a fix, the dealer should know about it!!! My dealer balked at ist, but after being harrassed by the number of complaints they changed their tune.....I have had no problem since the fixed, the bulbs have lasted twice as long so far with the DRL's turned back on...and no burnouts as of yet.....Keep bugging your dealer, good luck, Bill
