brake pads for XC V70-XC70 1998

Hi all-
I just purchased (as in yesterday) a 98 cross country. Could any recommend a good brake pad for the front? I am interested in shorter stopping distance, quietly. That is, my priorities are (1) stopping distance (2) noise (3) longevity.

How about rotors? any suggestions? Same priorities.

Dan

Hope your 98 XC is as good as ours has been -- now with 66K. My OEM rotors have lasted this far, but my mechanic says they will need replacing at next pad change which should be about 85,000, so I'd stick with OEM rotors. OEM pads did OK but produced a lot of brake dust, so I switched to IPD PBR (I think) pads. They have performed about same as OEM but no brake dust. They stop well under normal driving conditions. They are quiet as were the OEM pads.

My opinion is to stick with the OEM pads and rotors or find a place that sells aftermarket with a good reputation. Do a search on good places to buy Volvo part and get the stuff online.....pretty good prices out there. Basically, stick with the stock stuff....you'll have less headaches in the future.
