I found out the hard way too - Volvo keys are special cut that require special key cutter. All of the locksmiths I went to said to go to dealer, they don't have the blanks of the equiptment to cut a new key.

As I recall my dealer had to send to Volvo with VIN and it cost about $20 and it took a week.

You should also have the option of ordering master or valet key. Be sure to tell dealer which you want. Personally I feel better 3 total. (wife, me & spare)

Hmmm, it took a week for the dealer to get you your key? I had mine the day after I ordered it. Very strange. Some dealers don't really care about PR, though.

We only had one key for our 95 850. All we had to do was give out VIN
to the dealer, and they ordered a new one. Cost was $25.00 for the key.
A bit pricey to say the least. Of course, it is a big MANLY key :) .

When I took my '97 demo, I called Volvo Canada to complain a missing 3rd key, they asked for the VIN # and I pick up for free. I guessyou can call the dealer to make a new one, it may cause a bit of $. Good luck PChiu
