Microswitch for power seat C70

My power seat is out. I took it to the dealer and was quoted $250 to replace the "microswitch". I have seen micro switches on various web site for $20-$30. Can anyone help me with the location of this switch. Thanks

Microswitch for power seat C70 2000

My driver's side power switch was acting up intermittently so took it to a Volvo Service Center (AutoZentrum 2000) here in Germany. They replaced the switch under warranty...no questions asked & no charge.

$20 - $30 is about 10X too high. Electronic parts stores have these for $2-$3. The tricky part is the small moving actuator tab, which may be unique to Volvo. You may have to either transfer the actuator to the new switch, or bend a generic one.

The switches are located along the outer rail (the side where the controls are located). They limit the maximum travel of the seat. There are two for each seat, to limit the fore and aft travel.

Usually, the most expedient way to repair a power seat is to remove it first (four bolts and some connectors). I doubt if you can access the microswitches otherwise.

There is a control computer mounted to the underside of the seat. Perhaps that is what they are replacing for $250.

Potentiometers in the motors limit fore and aft travel. There are no microswitches on the rails. The micriswitch they are probably talking about is above the pivot point for the backrest. The switch tells the control unit to motor the seat foreward when the backrest is tilted foreward to get in the back seat. The problem is probably not the switch, but a broken spring thet attaches to a linkage that actuates the switch. The spring attaches at 1 end to a plastic lug, and the lug breaks off. When the spring is loose, the arm does not contact the switch, and all seat functions are inhibited. There is a TSB that details spring replacement, and attaching the end of the spring to a screw instead of the broken plastic lug.

Kraut's information makes sense, because only C70 models have these switches; S70 and V70 do not. When I look with a flashlignt and dental mirror, I can (barely)see one microswitch mounted near the front of the outer rial, and another identical microswitch above the rail at the rear. The front switch connector is labeled "angle" and has red and blue wires. The rear switch connector is labeled "fold", and has yellow and brown wires.
