I'm too lazy to search the forum to determine whether this has been posted or is common knowledge. But for everyone who wants to know, here are instructions on how to reset that "service" light on the dash. I found this in the newspaper in the "Clicky-Clack" column and it works.

*Volvo "Service" Reset*
"Service" light comes on after 12 months or 750 hours.
****Reset Procedure:****
1. Turn the ignition key to position I.
2. Press & hold the trip meter reset button.
3. While holding the reset, turn the ignition key to position II(the "service" light will flash).
4. Release the trip meter within 5 seconds and the light should be reset.

Thanks for the info. It is not common knowledge in the capital area of NY. My foreign service shop called a volvo dealer to get this info and they told him it was a special tool and he couldn't buy it. He could bring volvos to them for reset for a charge of one hour service ($60). I just reset it myself after reading your message-again thx

Only works on '99 and newer.....not '98 V70-XC70
