So it seems Wetterauer has the chip ready for the '01 XC. I know IPD has them too. I'm sending in my module on Monday. Anybody have any experience with chip upgrades on the '01-'02 V70s?

    Mine was upgraded through iPd, if you look into the January archives, you can find my impressions after it was installed. AMAZING! My car feels like it got a new engine and I have only had it for 12 months and 17,000 miles!

    Let us know how you make out...Wetterauer...do they flash the ECU?

      No, they install a socket and their own chip, but give you back the stock one.
      This is cool since I can swap chips if I have to bring the car to the shop. Unless they actually took apart the computer, they would never know anything was different.

      Did you upgrade your exhaust/intake as well? I don't want to do that even though I know it would get me a few extra horses and torque.

        Does the ship you are getting take the speed limiter off? Just curious. I did the Heico chip upgrade in Germany, but it didn't take off the limiter on U.S. Spec. cars. I don't want to go over 130 mph very often but on a vlear day it would be nice (also would like to know I could do more). They are trying to work a fix for some of us Amercians with the limiter.

        I did do the air filter and sport exhaust upgrade as well. You can see the pics, in the gallery under V70s if you like. Good luck. Thomas

          Hey Thomas,

          How are you? The iPd/TME upgrafe does remove the limiter. Scott Hart from iPd told me that he has taken his 2001 V70 T5 up to 168mph (!) during tests! Amazing, huh?

          P.S. I still show the pics you e-mailed me to a lot of people. You have the coolest looking dual exhaust I have ever seen in a wagon! I forgot to ask you...do you also get two mufflers or just one with two pipes?

            Hey Yannis,

            I forgot to mention: The photo I e-mailed you is sort of out dated in that it was prior to the full suspension upgrade I did. Have you seen the multi-shot pic I posted in the brickbaord gallery under V-70s? It shows diferrnt angeled shots of the car. Here is the link - it is the 2nd picture.

            Yes that is pretty cool for the chip to actually take off the speed limiter. That MPH seems pretty incredible as well. Heico says they are working a solution to get my limiter off. I don't want to drive over 130 too often but a doi take my wife's 98 T-5 up to about 145 + pretty regularly (last year without the limiter).

            Thanks for the feedback, I am really satisfied with the exhaust and it gets lots of looks. Here in Germany, there is a high concentration of military folks that buy volvos while over here so I see many more volvos owned by Americans that I normally do when in the States.

            Looking at the car it is 1 muffler. Looking at the website it shows only one as well. I talked to Heico yesterday and they are in many countries, but not the U.S. They are looking to start selling volvo accessory parts in the U.S. I think that sport exhaust would do well.
