Replacing 98 R OEM exhaust with a 2000 OEM exhaust. V70-XC70 1988

Anyone out there change there 98 R exhaust with the dual exhaust that comes standard on the 2000 model R's?

If so, did you notice any change in performance, mileage....etc. Seems more like a cosmetic change than anything else.

Please advise.

Probably cheaper to go with the IPD dual exhaust, unless you can get your hands on an OEM dual exhaust for cheap. There should be an increase in horsepower...the IDP dual exhaust increases HP by 10.

Alright folks, here's the deal. I finally decided to get the 2000 R exhaust installed today at M&S in Toronto. First thing I noticed was a deeper, more throaty noise coming from the exhaust. At idle and when engaging the turbo you can hear the difference. As for the performance, I think it's minimal, but noticeable. I feel as if the system flow's more freely. Would I suggest this to other R owners.....YES, only if you could get the exhaust for a decent price, you won't be disappointed.

Richard would you mind telling us how much parts and labour were? I am in Toronto as well.

Who do you deal with at M&S?

Steve

Beezer, the only reason why I did the dual exhaust was because I was getting my cat replaced under warranty. So, since the car was up on the hoist already, I thought I'd ask how much more would I have to pay to get the dual exhaust installed. The price was VERY reasonable so I went for it. Paid next to nothing for the installation too. Basically, just paid for the dual exhaust.
Now about the price...can't give you exact numbers, but it's less than 1/4 of the price of the IPD exhaust including S & H and converted over to CAN $$$.

Thanks Richard for the info.

Do you like the service at M&S. I am looking for an alternative to Lawrence Park.

Did you replace everything from the cat back?

Steve

The service at M&S is probably as good as you could get. I've black listed Lawerence Park because I've tried 3 times to get a simple oil change done and each time there was a waiting period of 4 weeks. Mind you, they are the only dealership within the GTA, but talk is, the mechanic's over there are butchers!!!

Regarding the cat, the only thing that I didn't replace is the extension pipe (i think that's what it's called). The pipe after the cat and before the exhaust.

M&S is the way to go, trust me on this one, I've been going there for 2 years now and have nothing but props to give them.

Richard.

Well I've taken the plunge as well. I put the dual exhuast from the 2000 V70R on my 99 V70R. I havn't done any performance tests but it looks great and is not that expensive.

Here is the brake down in Canadian dollars

Part Number

9470703 Dual exhuast assembly $303.45
9470989 Steel end tips X 2 $156.48
9484490 Pastic bumber frame $ 11.08

Total parts $471.01

It took my mechanic at Swedish Motors here in Toronto 1 hour ($78)to do the job. The dealer quoted 1.5 hours, don't belive them.

Total project price $549.01 + tax ($350ish US)

Compared to IPD who's system costs $1432 ($895 US) + shipping + insatllation this is a great option.

Your IPD numbers are incorrect.
The complete power pack from IPD is: ECU upgrade, new engine mount/bushing, K& N air filter, and dual exhaust(lower back pressure than OEM) costs $1425
I installed it on my 98 R, and now enjoy 290+ hp. The new ECU allows the boost to be increase as well.

Spence
