SRS Lamp reset 850

Can I reset the SRS light on a 96 850 by clearing the ODBII diagnostic codes with a code reader?...or is the SRS light like the service light in that a special tool is needed?

    I had removed the dash cover on my 95 850 to change some instrument lamps.
    I made the mistake of turning the key on with the passenger air bag disconnected. This set the SRS fault light. My dealer reset the light from the diagnostic module under the hood. It can be done without a tool but you must know which jumper and the button press sequence.

    I don't use "generic" scan tools but at the dealer, Volvos VST must first read the code, then clear it but it won't clear if it's a permanent fault, intermittant only. I doubt that your scan tool will clear an SRS code so you'll probably need to visit a dealer (or shop) with a Volvo VST (Volvos scan tool) for diagnosis.
