clicking noise when engine is turned off 850 1996

I've only had this vehicle for a week now so I'm trying to track down every little nuance. The latest thing I noticed is that there is a clicking noise, about one or two clicks per second, that continues for several minutes after I turn my car off. The noise seems to be coming from underneath and to the rear of the car, just in front of the rear axle area. I can't tell if it is a "click" noise, or a "drip" noise. Anyone experienced this before?

Thanks for the help as I try to become familiar with these Volvos.

Those "clicks" are kinda metallic in tone and very brief right? In all liklihood it's the cat. convertor and/or the exhaust system cooling down. These sounds are more common in turbocharged cars due to the extreme heat the turbo kicks out to the exhaust system. No need to worry, totally normal.

Probably the exhaust system making the clicking noise. I have
noticed that on many cars. Does this as it cools (the catalytic
    converter runs very hot).

A lot of cars make little clicking noises after you turn them off. Remeber that when you drive your car parts of it get pretty hot and do cool down once you turn it off. I'm guessing it could be something cooling down or just the suspension relaxing.
