Go back to the bay13 post for rear brakes and actually read the post, at the end is an example of the XC rear pad change out.

Rich:
Anything I need to know before putting the new IPD dustless pads into an S60?
I am told the brakes are the same as an S80. What size of allen or Torx wrench do I need? This is for cosmetic reasons, not because I wore out the OEM ones.
I have had the dustless pads in every Volvo I have owned.

7mm hex to get the caliper pins out. For the most part the front brakes are the same as the 850 and S70, so the post at bay 13 about front pads should help.

Piece of cake. You need an allen tool to fit the bolts on the caliper. Sears will have one. Call the dealer and ask parts what size it is. Once you take off the caliper( squeeze the pads away from the rotor- not that hard to do-just be careful), then take off the caliper and replace the pads. Put it back on in reverse order. Takes about 15 minutes per side.
