sorry to disagree yes there is away to keep it all to a minimum. A friend of mine, i meet at our car shows here in the UK uses dust covers that fit on the hub/disc/rotor assembly and around the rim. They look like the covers that your car arrives with from the factory to stop the erosion before delivery.

Sorry to disagree with you, but if you knew anything about those dust gaurds, you'd know that they MUST BE removed before delivery, and the last I checked, rims don't erode. They may corrode, but not erode.

Those dust guards help to prevent brake dust build up on rims. But they also GREATLY decrease the efficiency of the braking system. In fact, there are warnings to NOT exceed 80 km/h with those dust guards on.

Hopefully, the ones your friend has don't decrease braking ability as much as the stock ones do. I'd hate to see a Volvo with decreased braking ability, to the tune that the manufacturer sets a maximum speed of 80 km/h.

Marcas is correct, you can get aftermarket brake dust covers which are made of metal and don't melt like the ones that arrive on the new cars which keep the brake rotors from getting rusty while the car sits in a lot for months waiting for an owner.

Hi All,

Thanks Andrew for vindicating me, and nice car as well. I should explain the ones my friend as on is S90 are like a spacer, flat occupying the whole rim as already mentioned. He even has a LPG conversion in is boot/trunk and he get brilliant mileage. Just for info he is only in is mid twenties and got rid of his T5 for the S90.
