95 T-5 Idle problem 850 1995

Hi All

Recently I got my engine wet going through some water during a storm, water
splashed up under and has cause me a little grief in the idle area of my
car.

When I start the car first thing in the morning the idle bounces up and down
between 500 & 1000 rpm, now this is not effecting the driving of the car as
I can back straight out of my drive and drive of with no performance lacking
however when the car idles it is rough also what make it worse is when I
engage the air-conditioner then it goes stupid, the air con is acting as if
it was out of gas (clicking on and off ) which it is not as I have had it
pressure tested. These 2 annoying problems have started since getting wet I
have had it in at the garage checked the plugs and leads and have check
every possible connection for water inc relays and have found not a thing.

Any Ideas where to next to look ??.

Assistance appreciated

Regards

Pat

    95 T-5 Idle problem 850 1995

    Hi All

    Thankyou all for your input.

I believe I have found the problem with my car which involved condensation,
looking around for different ideas from different groups i.e. "Brickboard"
for one other place to start, it appears a lot of people get there cars into
similar problems in getting there engines wet, either by hosing it out or
the rarity of my case water splash up.

Well this is were I found my problem and I guess any car that gets wet could
have any numerous conditions, I found my problem in 2 places.
There was some condensation in the dizzy cap only minor, however I did find
a minor pool of water in the connection plug to the coil located near air box
where a blue & red wire is contained in this connection after drying out and
using some electrical grease I believe touch wood I have fixed the
problem.well since I have done these things the problems have ceased.

    Regards

    Popey

Always learning that is for sure...

The idle speed is governed by the ecu. My guess is that splashing has fouled a connection (or shorted something) somewhere so the ecu is not getting the info it needs. Have you checked the fuel system? Otherwise, you're on the right track, Keep hunting around for the fouled connection...

Pope, I had the same problem. I washed my engine, following all instructions... but it still obviously caused some damage because I have never noticed the rough idle before that. I have the same a/c clicking noises and RPM goes up then down, up then down. It's weird. If david is correct, I was planning on upgrading the ECU neway. If it helps at all I will let you know. Good Luck to ya. ~Cody
