Vision+ Confusion 850 1997

I have a US '97 850, and I'm a bit confused about the Vision+ matter. I would like to upgrade to them with e-code lenses, but are 9005/HB3 and 9006/HB4 actually available in Vision+? It seems like some people are running Vision+ with e-code in the US, yet Vision+ seems only to be available in H1/H4/H7, or was I just wrong about where some folks are from?
Thanks,
-Mike

VisionPlus is only available for the H7 configuration introduced in 98 Volvos. Your best option is BlueVision, which Sin reviewed in this forum last summer. His review highlighted the following about BlueVision(which he compared with VisionPlus (you might search the archives for his review, it was quite extensive):

Whiter light
Doesn't really look blue
Significantly higher light output than normal halogen
Only slightly less output (but whiter) than VisionPlus

With BlueVision behind E-codes, you will be ecstatic. Go for it.

I got mine (as have several others here) from Precision Volvo, Rowle,y Mass., 978.948.7778. Indy all-Volvo shop, lenses are Volvo OEM.

Thanks again David. If it's not too nosy, do you recall about what they cost? I think I'll call the shop you mentioned in the morning (4hrs difference from my local time). I see an early birthday present coming, heheh.

Precision Volvo, Rowley MA, 978.948.7778. The owner/master tech Tim will answer the phone (if he isn't under a car), otherwise leave a message and he'll call back. I paid $100 per side.

I don't think the time diff is 4hrs. We're 3hrs from pacific time, 2hrs from mountain.

Thx for your help David... 850 1997

Thx, you've been very helpful. I'm calling him in the morning. $100/side is great! Oh, it is actually 4hrs difference between Alaska and Eastern. Pacific is an hour ahead of us still. Sometimes it's nice living in the past! :)

Thx again David,

Thanks for that info!

So.... since I'm fairly new to the Volvo scene (<2yrs), I had Ecode lenses on my Saab 9000T and they made a huge, unbelievable difference. If I called these fine folks, would the Ecode 850 lenses be much better than the U.S. lenses I already have on my car... that just so happen to be cracked (time for replacement). I was confused by your statement... "Indy all-Volvo shop, lenses are Volvo OEM." Would that mean they are or are not ECode, or am I misunderstanding the use of "Ecode?"

thanks for putting up with my drivel.

/Scott

The Volvo e-codes make an enormous difference. The indy shop I referred you to is selling Volvo-branded e-codes (they come in Volvo boxes) as they're the o.e. lenses they put on their cars in Europe.

Volvo's DOT lenses are awful.
