Anything I need to know? 850 1996

I finally did it. I've been looking for a while and finally found my forst Volvo. It's a 96 850 GLT...and I love it. First thing i did was change the timing belt. Not too bad to do...should be easier the next time! Is there anything I need to know abou this particular model? I don't mean to be too broad, but you guys know them better than I do. I love how it drives...like someone in another thread...I'm chasing a wind noise. Other than that, it's great. I appreciate the input..and thanks for the site!

How long do it take you to do the timing belt? 850 1996

It took me about 3 hours...maybe a bit more. But it was my first time in it and I took my time. Getting the covers off was easy once I found a bolt that I missed...Just to be sure I marked the cams with a marker so I could be sure they did not move without replacing the back cover. I marked the side of the sprocket with a small line that was easy to line up.
Getting the belt off was pretty easy...slipping the new one on was a bit trying, but after fiddling with it for a while it went on. Be sure and compress the tensioner..and take your time doing this, I'm sure there are seals in there that will rupture if you force it.
I'm sure there are detailed directions somewhere, probably on this site. Know what you're doing before you start turning wrenches!!!!
Good Luck.

Watch the air recirculator pump. These have been known to get water in them and then freeze up. ~$600 to replace one. There's a check valve to keep water out of the pump - make sure it's clean & not sticking.

First two things I would do:

1) verify you have a pollen filter or not. If not, install one quick! Instructions on volvospeed.com (Bay 13), get your parts from volvoparts.com

2) If the cap on your coolant reservoir tank is gray, replace it with the newer green one. The gray ones are prone to leakage.
