Brown sludge in oil 850 1997

My 97 850 wagon with 133,000 km has a bit of brown sludge on the dipstick and a lot of condensation above the oil line. This is my wifes car and it makes a lot of short trips. Do you think I am leaking antifreeze into the engine, or could this be condensation?

I hate to pull the head off, but I am thinking I have to. Any suggestions?

Really sounds like condensation. Change oil, drive hard see if it comes back.

More scientifically - don't pull the head - do some diagnostics:

    1) Cooling system pressure test.
    2) Analyze oil for glycol contamination.
    3) Sniffer test for coolant contamination with combustion products.
    4) Do a leakdown test.
