Hi,

My S70T5's door courtesy light (red color) sometimes doesn't come on when the door is opened and I have to open and close the door a couple of times before it turns on again. Is there a switch or catch for me to check/lube to trigger the light properly?

TIA!

gavinl,

The micro-switch is part of the lock mechanism. The L rear door switch stopped working on mine. The dealer wanted $100.+ for the lock.

So, I removed the lock and sprayed the switch w/PB Blaster and worked it a couple dozen times. After many months it still works fine.

It is a small switch w/3 prong connection covered with clear sealant. Just manipulate the door strike and you will hear and see the switch operate.

Let me know if you need more info. Good luck,

Bryan

Thanks Bryan,

U meant remove the lock by the two torx screws rite? I'll take it apart and plumb some WD40 into them.

Cheers!

Gavin,

Right. You do have to take off the door panel and release the lock cable to remove it from the door.

Remove the screw under the cover in the armrest. The panel is removed by releasing the clips on the edge. I use a flat bar covered with felt to release the first couple and then work the rest loose w/my hands. Haven't broken a clip yet.

The lock removal is straight forward from there although you might have to loosen the screw holding the window guide.

Bryan
