As you face the front of your car (with the hood up, of course ;) )

To the right of the engine, is a black plastic cover with one torx screw.

Remove the screw

The cover should lift up.

Below this is an assembly of hoses... The larger hose is about 7" long and about 1" diameter... This hose is prone to crack, as are many vacuum hoses on the 850 after prolonged use.

If it has any sign of a crack, get a replacement from your Volvo dealer...

I had the A2 1-4-3 code pop up repeatedly and I decided to tightly wrap that hose with electricians tape, and reset the code.

A code that would pop up every 2-3 days has not produced a code in over 3 weeks...

I proceeded down to the Volvo dealer, and purchased a replacement.

They referred to it as the ICA something or other... I may recall it wrong, but it DID silence the code.

I am going to replace all the vacuum lines eventually as I can here whistling/whining noises under the dash upon startup.

Good Luck!

Shawn

No but....... 850

The most common cause of that code on a '94 850 turbo is caused by an internal ECU problem, cured by replacing the ECU with another. If you can find a used ECU, that's a less expensive alternative.

There is no such hose by Volvos terminolgy nor could a hose cure a knock sensor code.

Just guessing but how about "intercooler anterior?" As opposed to posterior?

The 77K mile car I'm looking at was found to have a leaking pressure hose between the intercooler and the intake. The lower hose. Anyone else experience this?

There are two lower hoses the mechanic told me. I'll drop by tomorrow and see what he's talking about. Not expensive to replace at the shop I'm using.

Erwin in Memphis
