Transmission fluid change V70-XC70 1998

I just purchased my first Volvo for my own use (SWMBO has a 740). It's a '98 V70 GL with 42k miles on it. I want to get the transmission fluid changed so that I know that I am starting fresh. Do I need to take it to the dealer for this (special fluids, whatever)? Or can I get it done at an independent garage or service station without screwing something up?

    Go out, buy about 12 litres of ATF, preferably synthetic. Get some silicone or rubber tubing in about 2/3" diameter, and a matching ring clamp. It's so easy you won't believe it.
