The 15,000 service is due on my T6. Wanted to do the Oil change myself but read on the S60 forum that a special filter tool is needed. Does the S80 need any special tools to change the Oil or Filter? Also saw that all of the dialog on this forum was about Synthetic lubricants. Did I miss something in the owners manual or can I use my old faithful Castrol GTX? Thanks ajm

Of course you can use Castrol GTX--you are the owner. You would be a lot better off using almost any of the synthetics. Less wear, better protection, easier cold starts, etc----
If you are really using a 15,000 mile oil change interval, you'd better be using one of the good synthetics.

I'm hoping that your oil's been changed by someone at least 2-3Xs by now? Although the owners manual says 7,500 miles (not 15K), if you read the fine print you'ld realize that it's really about twice that often. Most people in the business still advise 3K miles or 3 months but it's your car (unless you're leasing and have no plans for its future after warranty).

Oil change on the S80 is pretty simple. No special oil filter wrench necessary, but sure makes things easier. For a really great write-up on the subject, see the Bay 13 article here:
