New 2002 V70/ AWD/NOT X COUNTRY V70-XC70 2002

Anyone yet have experience with the new V70 AWD which is not the Cross Country version. More like the standard V70 wagon..but with turbo and awd. Also any suggestions as to which tires to put on it. 16 or 17 inch....The cross country comes only with 16 I think.Would it be foolish to go to 17 inch tires...Thanks pluto HMOEST@aol.com

The ride is very different. XC rides a "higher" off the ground, has more tire noise and may exhibit a bit more body roll on turns. In other words, if you like a sportier ride, go for the AWD not the XC.

As far as tire size, the 17" Thor alloys are far more handsome than the 16" alloys. Both come with M+S rated tires so tractions should be about the same. I, personally, would opt for the 17" at a low cost of only $500.

Thanks for your info.....my only concern about tbe 17 inch tires is that I live near NYC and am there often. And there are lots of potholes ......are the 17 inch more likely to be damaged by them; also is the ride harder than on 16 inch wheels....thanks again pluto ....HMOEST@aol.com pluto

I understand your concerns about NYC streets...I live in Pennsylvania where we are competing with you guys very hard as to who has the most potholes. The Pirellis are very good tires and they should not cause you problems. I never had any problems with them (although I watch where I drive) even when I did go over small potholes. The ride is not that much harder...the difference is almost not noticeable.
