Brakes.. V70-XC70 1998

Hiya all from a cold and snowy Sweden.

Ive been pondering about my brakes and changing the discs since they are getting some heavy wear and tear. They have been on since the car rolled out of the factory in -98 so..

Now, is this something I definately should leave to the appropriate mechanics when i hand it in for service - or could I do this myself.

I quess my question and wondering is if anyone have the experience in doing this themselfs and wanto share. Hard? Requires special tools? Do's and don'ts, all of that stuff.

Would be nice to know before tearing down anything and caught with my pants down.

TIA,

Niclas

Niclas,
This is a was a fairly easy job for me, it took about 3 hrs. I replace pads & rotors all around. Put on brembo rotors and friction tech carbon/metalic pads.

Some special tool will make it easier; 7mm socket allen wrench, flywheel puller (or rubber malet)- to remove rotors, thread lock, torque wrench, power break bleader, new rear break cut-out shims & roll-pin punch. The rest of the tools (10, 11, & 14mm)should be in a standard metric socket & wrench set.

Bay 13 has great instructions.
