Manual Climate Control Heating flow removal? S70 1998

Hi Guys, Happy New Year!

I have a itch to re-route my A/C system's radiator water piping to bypass the heater core so that I get only Cold temp in my brick. I stay in Sunny Singapore which don't see any temps below 74F so I don't the heater.

Will removing the heater water flow cause any rusting or degrading problems to the heat core? Issit advisible to remove the heater core as well?

Is the re-routing feasible? Or will the pipings be too troublesome to remove/re-route?

TIA!

    Oh, another question.

Does the manual climate control changes the compressor cycling frequency with the change of the temp control dial (in the car) or is there a single thermostat fixed in the cabin?

    Thanks!

With MCC, there's no interior temp sensor so AC temp is then controlled only by closing doors within the heater box, no heater control valve either and coolant always flows through the heater core.

As for your idea to bypass the heater core, you can do it if you want but IMO it's not necessary. If you're determined to do it, just re-route the hoses that that it's completely bypassed. I'd leave to core inside the car as there's no good reason to remove it.

        Thanks Earl!

If the MCC operates by opening/shutting the vent vanes to the heater core, does the temp control in the cabin also controls the compressor's on/off cycling frequency?

I'm trying to achieve a all out cooling scenerio where I can reduce the compressor cycling while not getting any heat at all.

        cheers!

With MCC, there's no interior temp sensors at all regulating AC temp, compressor cycling so the compressor cycles on/off due to AC freon pressure (hi and low pressure switches). If your AC cycles more often than you think is normal, and they do normally cycle btw, start by having the system evacuated by a shop with a good recovery machine as they measure the weight of freon removed from the system. By doing that, the technician then knows how its weight compares to the systems full charge weight (1.65lbs in your car). If it was low, it should be fully recharged with AC dye added so that the next time it becomes low again (not before), it can be visually inspected for evidence of leaking dye by using a blacklight.

Leaving your heater core hooked up as it was designed shouldn't be adding un-necessary heat to your interior and although you can bypass it, I wouldn't do it with my own car UNLESS the heater core was leaking and I didn't need heat.

Thanks Earl, my A/C system is running fine. Juzz wondering would removing the hot water flow to the heater core reduce the compressor cycling frequency. I guess not ;-P

            Cheers!
