Hello all,

Check this picture http://boberg.gullig.nu/depa/volvo/linus_03.jpg and tell me, I have a V70 T5 from -98 and I dont have the sourroundspeaker in the middle ontop of the dashboard - could one buy it and fit it to the dashboard afterwards? I mean, do that mean a complete new dashboard, or can i just purchase the speaker in the middle and connect it. Or do I also need a new stereo other then the one fitted.

Here in the USA I have not seen a center speaker grill on the 1998 that didn't already have the speaker under the grill. What is the Model number of your radio? The center speaker is for the Dolby Surround Sound System. The proper radio, amplifier, and speakers are needed to make the system work correctly. Let us know what radio you have, what country you are in (or where the car was made for) and maybe we can come up with some better answers.

Which component produces the surround? The head unit, or the amp, or both? I'm guessing the head unit since it also has controls for surround effects...

Based on that assumption is there any head unit that does surround that DOESN'T have the three-disc changer? I hate that thing, and would much prefer to have a single disc.

The Surround Sound 3 disc radios have the head and an amplifier, the head does the work but the amp is needed to get the sound to the speakers. There is not another surround sound system (single disc).(USA)
