Rear door rattles V70-XC70 1998

Has anyone figured out wht causes the rattles and how to fix them. I also have a rattle comming from the drivers side air vent. Is there an easy way to pop that out and see what is causing the rattle.

Yes, I have had the same problem. The plastic panel is not staying attached to the metal door frame. I have to smack it where it comes loose, occasionally, to get it to reattach. I recently got tired of doing this and took it off to see if the replaceable plastic retainers were broken or worn. Unfortunately, I discovered that it was not the replaceable plastic pieces on the door frame that had failed. It was the notch (to which the retainers are meant to attach) on the large plastic panel that had failed...bummer. There is no good way to fix that. I have resolved to use a small dab of glue between the replaceable retainer and the notch on the plastic panel to help stabilize their otherwise all-to-temporary union.

    Good luck.

    Bilbo,

The LH vent just prys out. Use a flat blade and slip it between the vent and dash. You should place a card between the blade and dash to prevent any damage.

There is a screw that may be loose. However, it is more likely that the magnet on the dash-top speaker is loose or off. Please see the post below on Failing Speaker by Mark for a fix.

My rear doors rattled a bit at one time, mostly because my subs and mids were kicking a little too hard for them to handle. I found that mine were making noise by having the interior trim vibrating up against the metal frame of the door.

I fixed it by removing the panels, and using some foam tape in between the panels and the door. As for the air vent, I have never had a rattle from there, I have no idea what could be causing it or how to fix it.
