I should just go out in the garage and try this, but...
I recently acquired a 2001 V70 T5, and I'm wondering if the 15" snow tires and wheels from my '95 850 will fit. It won't look so good, but it'll save $600 for a new set. My gut tells me the stock Michelin MXM4 tires will be somewhat less than useless at the first sign of snow.

It will certainly cost more but, my vote is: go to the Tire Rack web site and size the tire perfectly with some Borbet rims and get a good looking, and good handling package of snows that will have you wishing it would snow!!

Dunlop winter sports are the best in my opinion.

Thanks all for the input. I bit the bullet and ordered a set from Tire Rack - I decided to give the Pirelli 210 a try. Anybody have experience with this tire? I've had Blizzaks on my BMW and previous Volvo, and have never feared anything winter had to offer. It's always a pleasure leaving an SUV in the dust when the light turns green...

In a word - No. The larger brakes on the T5 require at least 16" wheels for clearance. I got mine through my dealer here in Germany.

I believe the rotors are 12" on the '01/'02s T5s, they were 11" on my '98 T5 and that was a tight fit for the 15" wheels. The manual may say something about 16" wheels.

You may want to call your dealer to confirm. I also think I saw Volvo offering a "special" with coupon for snow tires (Gislaved) and steel wheels on the Volvo website.
