My hood is sqeaking where the hood latches are located rather loudly when i close any of the doors on my 850. What can I do to fix, I've tried grease, even wraped tape aroond the metal parts but it just wears through.

I don't really see how this can be related to the closing of the doors on the car. The hood latches have adjustment bolts for the correct fit which allows the mounting bracket to be raised or lowered. Try moving them some and see if it helps. The fact that the tape you put on wore through would indicate some harder than normal metal to metal contact.

Exactly, there is metal to metal contact so I will adjust the hood latches and see if it goes away. And yes when I close any door it causes the latches to squeak on the hood. Thanks

Before I write-you-off as a kook (just jokin'), give us a little more to work with.

Is the hood open when you are closing "any door"?

If the hood is not open, how do you know it is the hood latches that are making the squeak?

This is a crazy problem--tell us more.

Didn't know I'd be considered a "kook" if I have an annoying squeak in my hood latches. Ken, I'm serious here. On both sides of my front hood where it latches on when you close the hood there is a squeak. It only squeaks when the hood is shut. And when I close any door whether hard or soft it causes a vibration that triggers this squeaking metal to metal sound. I assumed it was the metal latches when I noticed the paint has been removed and shiny metal now exists.I have been advised to adjust the latches left-right, up-down whatever by this forum. I'm glad this is all I have to complain about at this time on my volvo.

Have you tried lubricating them with a good silicone grease?
