Hello,

Has anyone had a passenger compartment fan motor go bad? And if so what was the failure mechanism?

Last night driving home from work when I had the horrible smell of burning plastic and electrical wires coming form the vent! It lasted for about 5 minutes then went away. Now I have a fan motor that make a wining sound but still seem to work. I suspect that the one of the wire winding in the motor fried.

Anyone have this problem?

    Steven, I had mine go after about 4 months and it was replaced under warranty. It started making a buzzing noise then quite, the good thing was it quite on the way to the dealer for one of my inspections. Then replaced it then with no questions asked. Now that the car is out of warranty it makes this noise every now and then hasn't failed yet and I hope it makes it through the winter.
