How much more computer stuff? V50 2006

Morning!
I have a new to me v50 awd turbo manual. I feel as though it is everything I wanted in my 240, however, within a week of getting it the ignition switch went the way of valhalla. And of course that was not a plug and play, it needed to be re-programmed to the computer...
How much more of that am I going to run into?

When I worked at VW for a while everything had to be re-programmed to the car, even the headlights; and at 1800 each quite a number of cars got traded in for a 3200 headlight repair!

Thanks! Andrew

How much more computer stuff? V50 2006

Because of the year of your car, if you have a computer problem (or an issue you cannot fathom) try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes, rebooting your cars computer may clear the problem.

I mentioned this because a couple of years ago our 2008 XC70 had a low tire - because we were going to a play, we just took our other car. the next day, the remote key would not unlock the car, I fixed the tire and drove to reset the low air alarm.

I tried to find out why the car did this, but this board, my dealer, and Volvo of North America could not explain this issue. My top notch Subaru Tech son-in-law told me that it made some sense because the remote key and the tire pressure sensors use the same computer as they are both wireless.

I had this issue repeat itself twice in the next year. My son-in-law had no advice for me.

Thanksgiving we had our meal at his house and I mentioned my problem again in case my son-in law had some further thoughts. His father ( a mucker Subaru tech ) said 'Did you disconnect the battery for 5 minutes?

    That worked!

    A computer reset might wirk.
