How do you reset the V70-XC70 2006

Hello All,

I purchased last summer a 2006 V70 FWD, non-turbo equipped with a 2.4 liter engine for my daughter. She texted me this morning (she attends graduate school out of state) saying the following light came on display on the dashboard:

"Time For Regular Maintenance". I assume this is a service light that comes on every 10,0000 miles to remind the owner to have the oil changed. If I am right, how do you reset it? Can you do it manually or do you have to use a scanner that you plug in to reset it? If anybody knows, please let me know so I can share your reply with my daughter. Thank you to all who respond.

Hugh

Hi tried this “service light reset method on a V70 FWD” in a ECOSIA browser

https://seventrumpet.com/how-to-reset-service-minder-light-on-volvo-v70-2002-2016/

Try it …. if you car in the same or close as there is no set standard as it should be among all the cars starting way back!

Have you tried any of the methods to see what works?

I have trouble getting my 1991 240 to reset.
There is a stiff wire that comes off a push-in type button. It mechanically pushes a lever up to move gears or something. It is all on the back of the speedometer that makes it cumbersome.
I had to put in a small filler spacer to get enough push up as it lacked about an 3mm movement.
That did work several times, I think?
Then again, sometimes, I have to do it over and over.
I have come to a conclusion that it’s either a mechanical thing or might even have to do with the ignition switch being on enough at a precise length of time while I push the button or the ECU it gives up. Got me?
In other words I’m not sure what makes mine work either.
It just seems to quit bothering me until the mileage goes along far enough to start the whole sequence all over again at 3-5,000 or 7,500 miles.
It takes awhile for me to put on that kind of mileage with the fleet choices I have.
I must admit, I might be a horde of vehicles with over approximately 60 years of driving collected.

I can see why you are keeping your ‘06 running.

Phil,

I am embarrassed to say I asked the service manager of my local Volvo dealership and he emailed a video on YouTube that showed how to reset the light. I don't have in front of me, but basically, if I recall correctly, you turn the ignition key to position 1, and then push the trip meter button on the dashboard in. I think you have two setting, T1 and T2. You have to have it on T1. With the button pushed in, you turn the key to position 2 and wait until you see a yellow diamond shape light in the middle of the dashboard begin to flash and then you turn the key off.
