headliner starting to come unglued XC90 2004

Greetings, the headliner on our XC90 is starting to come unglued from the ceiling. I have replaced these before in a v70 w/o a sunroof. The XC90 would be significantly more complicated. I am therefore looking for a shortcut. I doubt the car will last a lot longer, maybe two years, so I'd like to get it to stay together for that long.

When I replaced the liner on the V70, I bought, cut, and spray-glued the liner to the ceiling (taking the entire ceiling out of the car). It worked, but it was a big job. I thought of the idea of maybe making little slices into the liner where it's failing and then spraying some adhesive into the area that needs re-gluing.

Has anyone tried a fix for this job that they recommend, or does my idea sound like it might be viable?

Thanks

If the foam rubber is failing, you may be beating a dead horse.

The head liners in old cars were held up by bows across the roof. In fancy models and convertibles, the bows were applied below the headliner and were chromed.

Perhaps you can find some material that you can make into bows.

Thin pieces of plastic trim found at lumber stores.
