1999 Volvo V70 rear CAM plug exhaust side... V70-XC70 1999

All,

Good Day!

Changed my timing belt today, and removed the rear exhaust side CAM plug so I could lock the CAMs in place while I replaced the belt.

On removing the plug I noticed that there was no seal on the rear exhaust CAM, is this normal, or should a seal be in there, OR do I just place a new CAM plug in the rear exhaust CAM location just like it was?

Looking forward to everyone's responses.

Thanks in advance,

Matt

When I replaced the cam sensor on my 95 850, I was certainly surprised to discover the rear cam seal was behind the cam sensor! Not at the plug as one would expect. The seal was in fine shape and not leaking so I left it as was…

Realized this might not be clear. The cam sensor is located behind the rear cam plug and the seal is further back behind the sensor.
