What do ou do about 'limp mode'. Non-Volvo mechanic is baffled as well.

    As Bill said you need to read the OBD codes first. If the transmission has an issue it could be the computer putting the car into limp home mode to protect it from further damage. That happened on my 93 850.

    First thing is to get your OBD codes.
    You can get them read for free at many part stores.

    AMM failure or unplugging the AMM will result in limp mode.
