I have 50-50 clear branded auto -zone
Clear states I can mix with any color that presently is in the coolant system.
The reservoir is dry so I don’t know what color was in there.
Any suggestions…thx

Assuming you don’t have a leak, the best choice for your car’s cooling system is to drain and refill with the Volvo antifreeze specifically made for your car. Chances are that is what is in there now. Mix 50/50 with distilled water. Good time to do a flush too.

If you simply prefer to top it up with the clear premix - go for it.

That begs the question, why is the reservoir dry? Is the cap or tank leaking? Check it out. Doubtful it is a hose as Volvo hoses usually last a very long time…

And the green or better blue coolant (not orange for Volvo) is easier to see 'cause you gotta a coolant leak.

One gallon of Walmart distilled and a bottle (pour in first) of the green, best if phosphorous free, Prestone. Or use one of the green SuperTech. 'Cause your testing for leaks.

You may want to read up on the cooling systems and concerns should coolant leak so much the expansion tank is dry.

Read loss of coolant. Different engine and more or less the same cooling system configuration in redblock 700-900 up to 1998.

Maybe organic acid technology (OAT) antifreeze as premix or 50/50 using distilled or, better, deionized water (keepin' that nuclear pile cooled and keepin' the isotopes from decay in the water.

What them liquid cooled and heated battery modules use in energy storage.

Yes, I’ve been posting emoji’s for awhile now. Using Safari - I suspect search engine now makes no difference whatsoever. Jarrod, our most esteemed administrator, has most likely reprogrammed some functions that we are not aware of. Perhaps??? Thoughts? I’m assuming you are using straight antifreeze mixed 50/50 with distilled water? If so, I see no reason why you can’t top it up with 50/50 premixed antifreeze.
