Day time dash lights for speed & RPM V70-XC70 2007

The needles and increments light at night and can be controlled for bright to dim.
Not so much a problem during the day but it would be nice to see during the day. I figure there must be a solar sensor or some other way to control these.

    It could be worse - we have two XC70s - a 12 and a 08

Both have red needles on a silver face - plus, the needles rotate around a center digital screen, Most of the time, at night, I cannot find the needles on my speedo or tach.

Auto manufacturers have used white needles and numbers on a black background for more than a century.

Some fashion designer must have come up with the red needle design!

Fiddle with the knob that controls dash light brightness. I was shocked when the lights went dim one day at dusk in our XC70.

I turned the knob back and forth several times and experimented with the setting of the knob - soon the issue went away. I haven't had to adjust it since.

Thanks James, I have limited success fiddling with that control. Will continue to try more fiddling before opting for a replacement?

Do you have your running lights switched off? On my 2000 V70 I have a tiny switch in the hole in the light switch for that. If they are off I don't get instrument lights either.
