Repairing wiring to oxygen sensor 2015 XC70 V70-XC70

Chipmunks made their way into the engine compartment and chewed the wiring that feeds the O2 sensor. Mechanic tested and said it was Bank 1, Sensor 2 affected but he never looked under the hood because he was too busy yesterday. When I got home, we looked inside and found the damaged wiring. Is it possible to splice or replace the broken parts, or do we need to replace the sensor? I stopped at an auto parts store today and the fellow sold me some wire, but I'm not sure it can be done. :-( Those darn chipmunks also chewed through a section of black tubing which I fixed with some electrical tape, but I guess it has nothing to do with the O2 sensor?

Sensor 2 is the rear O2 sensor. Yes, you can splice and repair with the same gauge wiring. Just remember, it is very low voltage and if the splice is bad, voltage will not jump through.

The hole in "tubing" could be part of the fuel EVAP system.

BTW, chipmunks and mice do not like peppermint oil. Peppermint Altoids stuck in parts of your engine works wonders.
