Sunroof leak, again. V70-XC70 2008

Time to replace the sunroof seal again. I drove my wife's V70 to work today and noticed there was a lot of condensation on the passenger side windshield, inside.

Feeling the carpet I found it wet, again. Last time I pulled the carpet and padding and found an inch of water standing. Dried it all out, dried the padding and carpet, cleared the sunroof drains and replaced the seal (not easy).

The headliner fabric at the top edge of the windshield is peeling away from it's foam backing due to being wet.

This is a very nice car, but the last I'll buy with a sunroof.

I had a wet floor in our '08 XC70 sometimes there was 1/2 inch of water! Cleaning the sunroof drains did not work - taping over the seal all around the sunroof did not work - a new windshield did not work

    DOH!!! These were dealer suggestions!

I found that after heavy rains, the car left a stripe of water as I turned left out of my driveway.

Eventually we found That there were leaves/pineneedles clogging drainage in the firewall/cowl area. I purchased this car when it was 4 years old and knew nothing of its history.

An old time service writer took my car in the wash area and blasted a bunch of crud out of the area near the right front fender in the firewall/ towel area.

I still get the stripe, but no more wet floor.

I went to a Pick&Pull and got a 'new' sunroof (glass). The 850s are notorious for rusting, so I got a 1999 which is much better for some reason.

As to your V70 leaking, I would suspect the drains or the windshield seal. My 1998 leaked water at the top of the windshield, falling the overhead light with water.

Keeping it running is better than buying new
