Reduced engine performance message V70-XC70

Any idea before I make a appointment to have the car scanned.
Car goes into limp mode and after restarting the engine goes back to normal engine check engine light goes on during message and after a few miles after restarting goes out!
This happened also before I had the differential rebuilt last month and now it has reappeared.
Car has 130k

It will be difficult to diagnose if the CEL turns itself off. The spark plugs may be a problem, or not. Were you at wide open throttle when this happened? If so, then it could be a 'misfire' detection.

You may want to consider buying a code reader like this one:
