98 EVAP code V70-XC70

hi all, my 98 v70 na tripped the code the other day for small evap leak [i think it was 0440]. Anyhow over the years i have replaced various vacuum lines and a couple of valves but others seem to have replaced the "J" hose. I do have a new J hose on hand but cannot find where this hose is located. I jacked up the car and crawled under. Only thing i see down by the fuel filter is the roll over valve and a couple of small short hoses..i did replace those as i have had a leak there in the past.

Anyone have knowledge o f where the J hose is located or perhaps a picture of it in place?

Keeping it running is better than buying new

      thanks Klaus,
Mine is like the diagram on page 2 of the matthews thread posted by abscate. I think i need to drill out the inner fender rivets and replace all of those hoses etc. under there.

Mine was between the rear wheels atop the rear suspension "structure".
I found it real easy to remove the LR fender liner. Drill out the pop rivets is all you need to do. Do you have a pop rivet gun for reassembly?
Don't go via the right side as fuel filler etc. might get in the way
I loosened 2 bolts which hold the charcoal canister steady. This gave me enough access angle. I used small sockets to undo the hose clamps.

I found my pictures of the job but cannot figure out how to attach them. PM me your email address and I'll send 'em to you if you like.

Hi and thanks for the response. Found my canister..it is in front of the front left wheel tucked up in the fender. it does have some hoses on top but all look good and none look like the j and l hoses i have on hand to replace with.

Thanks. I do have several pop rivet guns and rivets so that is no problem but i cannot even see the offending hose so before it do that...

BTW, my charcoal canister is mounted up front in front of the drivers wheel up in between the outer and inner fender area. it has a couple of hoses on it but are in good shape and smaller diameter than those that i ordered
