The AC belt shredded and wrapped around the timing belt. Car stopped. No compression in any cylinder. There is slight scoring to top of three of the pistons. See attached image URL. Am I lucky that the light damage to the pistons might indicate the valves did not get bent?

Just to clarify, the timing belt did not break, it was the AC belt that broke and pieces of it wrapped around the crank gear of the t belt. The belt must have jumped some teeth. I have yet to take things apart enough to see how much.

Your valves are bent. Figure on replacing all of them.

compression test first. I have never seen an interference engine make it through a broken timing belt. You need the head removed and new valve lapped inplace.

Personally, I haven’t seen one but I have heard of them. I know somebody who owned an S80 whose timing belt broke in their driveway. Luckily for them it just needed a new belt!

There is so little clearance in the combustion chamber, each piston has indents to ensure clearance. Your picture shows that the carbon is missing, meaning that a valve did strike a piston.

If there is zero compression on ALL cylinders, something wrong with the test???? Usually, only those cylinders with bent valves will be zero.

In either case, the head needs to be removed and valves replaced. Along with valve guides, of course.
