S60 third gear shift module? 2004 S60

What kind of money would I be getting into if I buy this car? Never heard of a third ger shift module.

2.5l turbo runs great has new calipers, breaks, rims and tires and over $8500 in receipts since 2016 fully loaded seat warmers power everything but needs a 3rd gear shift module still driveable just not third gear make me an offer

The cheapest way to fix is to replace the complete transmission. There are replacement solenoids that can be bought, but no guarantee that will be the end of the solenoid problems.

Sounds like the PO never flushed the ATF and it got dirty.

Here is a write up on how to replace a solenoid:

So it sounds like I should price a used transmission or a rebuilt one rather than to try and have the solenoid replaced.

Are these S60s doing okay, i.e., what is their reputation? I am familiar with 850s and 960s but don't know a lot about these later models.

Obviously, the newer the better. Do you 'need' AWD, if so, it will be more expensive to maintain and cost more in gasoline.

I found some 'nice' examples on Autrader.ca

The 2008 look good and not beaten to death.

I prefer a manual but hard to find these days. I am looking for a winter car for my nephew who wants to park his Porsche during that season. I will take a look at your lead and get back to you.
