Replacement wagon V70-XC70

I totaled my 08 XC 70 this week thanks to deer. What do you think better? A 2010 with 57k miles or a 12 with 100k. Or a 15 with 100k. Or something else like an XC60 or Outback?

All opinions encouraged.

Picking up on the alternatives here.

If you can get by with a little less interior space give a few XC60's a look. I was impressed with one for sale near me during my 2 year search to replace my 2002 V70 base.

The one I saw had a bad head gasket. Before the 60 series took root I found my replacement V70 so I didn't give the 60 any kind of "educated shot".

A 1995 Subaru Legacy, my only vehicle purchased new, became the Outback the next year by humping the roof and raising the car a bit.

My engine ran like a watch but EVERY OTHER Subaru I've ever been near since was louder and many Subbie engines rattled. Remember, the wrong coolant will turn the engine into a leaky mess. I like 'em but I don't. I also appreciate that my intel is small and old.

From a looks standpoint alone, I like the XC60. Haven’t drive one yet. Did drive a 2016 Outback a few times. As boring to drive as a Toyota. Probably reliable though. Volvos are much more entertaining to drive. Service records are a big plus.

You probably won't like the noisy, uncomfortable Outback. But a 2012 XC with a 6 cyl wouldn't scare me a bit.

Keeping it running is better than buying new
