Engine warm-up

On my '17 V60 does a cold engine warm up faster if the cabin heater controls are set to LO until the eng temp is up to normal? My dealer says no. Any comments appreciated. Thanks.

We have owned 4x740s, 3x850s, and now 2x XC70s.

The heater controls have been left where they are at the end of a winter trip - all 9 cars start blowing heat at the same place, about a mile from home - all these cars are left outdoors in northern Massachusetts.

Theoretically yes, but in practice there's very little difference in the amount of time to bring the engine up to temp - especially given that your 2.0 4-cylinder has an electric water pump.

Set the climate control to your desired temp and let Mother Volvo take care of all the rest.

I have mine set to 'auto' year round. The blower doesn't engage until the temperature gauge goes up a tic. Of course, my 'cold' engine can be below zero.

Turning the blower to 'low' will not have an adverse effect, except perhaps blowing cold air around for the first 1/4 mile or so. Remember, the coolant always flows through the cabin heater, regardless of blower settings.
