trans fluid options S60 2008

Hello all, hoping to get some advice. 3-4 years ago I purchased Pentosin ATF 1 trans fluid from FCP to do a flush, this was done over the phone with their help. Never got around actually doing the flush, and want to do it tomorrow. Retrieved my unopened containers and decided to check first that this fluid will actually work. I wrote FCP customer service this morning and have not heard anything as yet, but I cannot find anything regarding this product on the internet for Volvo usage. FCP's web site refer to mostly German cars for usage.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

Good morning for your feed back. FCP did get back to me shortly after my post, they told me it is not the correct fluid and not use it. In fact, though it has been a few years and the fluid is still sealed I can return it for in store credit. I am good with that considering the time passed. It seems that the JWS 3309 fluid is the correct one. I will report once I locate a supply how the flush goes today.

    Thanks again,
    Dan

I just had this conversation with my son Daniel (Mini-Cooper and BMW tech) regarding my 2002 S40. I've been monitoring the trans fluid level because of some minor seepage at one driveshaft seal and found that it is was just low enough to require a top-up. I haven't had to add fluid in the 4 years I've had the car. The owners manual calls for fluid with the 3309 spec as already mentioned by a BB poster. This fluid is used by many Japanese cars - and in particular Toyota which also uses the Aisan-Warner transmission. I already had a quart of Castrol brand ATF labeled for use in Honda, Nissan and Toyota so that's what I used. I find it odd that nowhere in the owners manual is there a word about the trans dipstick - where it's located and how to read it. I think newer Volvos do not have a dipstick and maybe an older manual would have info. I have a 2001 manual as well as the 2002 - no mention -- not even on the "under the hood" page showing where fluids get checked/added. -- Dave

This fluid is not recommended for your car.

Buy the mobil stuff, I think it's j3309 or something, and don't even think of putting this in your car.....
