Mystery hot spot near AC/Heater controls V70-XC70 1999

I'm trying to replace the cabin blower motor and I wanted to make sure this mystery hot spot in the center console won't interfere with that. Cabin blower started failing over the summer and I noticed that when the A/C was on it was very hot to the touch. Even with the fan knob switched to "off" it's still warm. I think it sounds like a short but I'm still a novice and I'm not sure what I'm talking about. Does anyone know what this is?

EDIT: After doing some more research the hot spot appears to correspond to the location of one of the climate control bulbs. If the bulb is burned out or something else is wrong with it, would that produce a lot of heat?

A burned out bulb produces no heat. I cannot decipher your description of the hot spot? The blower motor is behind the glove box, no where near the center console.

In your car, you have to remove the glovebox before removing the passenger kick panel. Probably a 3 hour job with limited tools the first time in the dash. Next time it will be 1 hour!

I'm new to this so I'm sorry if my description doesn't make sense. I've realized since I've posted this that the two problems are unrelated. I've done more research and the hot spot is most likely just a climate control bulb (the ones that light up the numbers on the knobs) that's a little too hot. FCP Euro has them for $6 each so I'll just replace those after I replace the cabin blower. I know how to replace the cabin blower, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't an electrical problem I needed to fix first.
